About 1 in 10 people will have a seizure in their lifetime, and school staff are often the first to respond when a student has one. This 30-minute online training gives teachers, aides, coaches, bus drivers, and all school personnel the knowledge to recognize seizures and respond confidently and correctly. Under Connecticut’s Seizure Safe Schools Act, public school personnel are required to receive seizure recognition and first aid training, and this course fulfills that requirement.
In this training, you will learn to:
- Recognize the most common seizure types
- Respond to a seizure using the three basic first aid steps: Stay, Safe, Side
- Identify the key factors that make a seizure a medical emergency requiring 911
- Support students living with epilepsy in the classroom and beyond
You’ll complete a brief pre-assessment before the training and a post-assessment afterward. Score 80% or higher, and you’ll receive a formal certificate of completion.
